Looks like a large porcelain cabinet knob with embedded wood screw. The brass end appears to be ground or naturally worn away. Originally it could have been threaded. Maybe it was a knob for someone's outdoor loo. It may also be a regular door knob that went through a fire and partially melted the brass..

Mice & Rats EAT Romex Wire Sheathing, like what is typical UNDER an electrified structure. So...their nasty critters for eating crops, etc., but can cause BIGGER problems. You see, bitten through electric wire insulation will just allow the two-to-four electric wires to touch. After that, anything can happen (ie: spark, fire, power-loss).

for those who always comment "will it kill predators", I say...well, they die IN their burrows, so...what raptor, coon, or other critter will bother diggin' 'em out? snakes, maybe, but...in a garden?? not so much, I reckon'. A fine good garden is a terrible thing to see "wasted" on rats! Heyyy...I'm in SW FL, have Papaya Groves, and find Jays and Peckers KILL my fruits terrible. Why? the dang itty-bitty fruit flies burrow, and the birds dig 'em out, wasting the Paps. Sighhh...so...I now spray a mix of vinegar & chili powder on the young Paps, and...voila'...no fruit flies :-) yeah...that works till the Papayas get tall, then...I let them have at it, till I cut the stalks. Pity those growers NOT growin' Paps, or Pink Guava :-))) sub'd/liked

I couldn't stop laughing watching this video. A great, pragmatic solution to a real problem in the real world. But at the same time, you have some cohones posting it, I didn't scroll through to see, but you have to be driving some PETA-type city folks nuts. Mostly by bringing in a confined Guinea Pig in a cage... (Oops, squirrel) as a demonstration/test. But you definitely helped me out... I have been looking for some solutions to a problem I created.... I planted a bunch of fruit trees a few years back, and worse, put in rail road ties throughout my large garden area for terracing.... as I am in town, there are lots of rural options that I can't do. The fruit trees became a squirrel buffet, the railroad ties an apartment complex for small rodents to eat my garden and girdle my younger fruit trees in the winter. Plus rabbits. I had been trying to find poisons for the ties and small rodents, mostly as I have partly dealt with the squirrels.... And have real fears of my dogs eating too much anticoagulant in dead rodents.

I used corn meal and plaster in a lid and put another lid of water next to it. 2 parts corn meal and 1part plaster

If you have dogs and you leave the dog food out it counter reacts the baking soda. Something in the dogfood makes it not work.
